Camouflage nails

In honor of my time spent in camo, I wanted to do a camouflage nail manicure.  I spent FOREVER looking for just the right shade of khaki green, and even found a couple! But my cheap butt didn't want to spend the $8 on Essie's version or $7 for Finger Paints version-although I came pretty close to buying them several times.

To my surprise and delight, I found one in Sonia Kashuk's display at Target for $5!  It is even named "Fatigued." Along with that buy, I found the brown to go with it-"Chocoholic."  I already had black, (duh) and then had to look around for a good light tan color.  The one I wanted seemed expensive considering I may never wear it again- okay, it's cuz I'm cheap.  I couldn't bring myself to buy the one I should have bought by Essie. So, I bought "Mulberry Street" by NYC. It isn't right for this manicure. It has flecks of sparkly in it.

NYC Mulberry street, Sonia Kashuk Fatigued and Chocoholic, and Kiss black

I looked at my cammy's from the Marine Corps to get an idea of what I was going for, and realized that they had a forest green color in them as well. I decided to leave it out since I have no forest green.
I started off with a base coat and a coat of Mulberry Street. Then, I randomly painted on my nails with the Fatigued. I filled in with Chocoholic, and then drew random thick lines with the black.  I meant to keep more of the Mulberry street showing, but that didn't happen. :o)

I like the overall appearance, but in hindsight, maybe I should have put a bottom coat of the green and left Mulberry Street out altogether. Maybe then it would have given it a sharper edge around the nail line.
Also, I really wish I had a matte top coat so it could be the way camo should be! That would have been awesome!
I do like it though and hope you enjoy looking at it!  If you decide to do this, please let me know, so I can see!
