SinfulColors Galax-Sea and Sugar Sugar Gradient and Review

*PRESS SAMPLE*

~SINFULCOLORS~

SinfulColors is coming out with an array of 22 colors in their Holiday 2014 Collection.  There will be some old favorites, several hints of blue and gold, some glitter flakes and a couple of opalescent toppers.  Tonight, I will be showing you two of these colors in a beautiful gradient.

I used SinfulColors Sugar Sugar, Galax-Sea, and Secret Admirer (not included in the holiday collection.)
I used two smooth coats of Sugar Sugar and had no issues.  It went on smoothly and it has an inner glow to it that is caused by a red shimmer.   I then sponged a gradient on the tips with SinfulColors Secret Admirer.  (This polish is not part of the holiday collection.)
Sinful Colors
After the coats of polish dried, I used one coat of SinfulColors Galax-Sea.  Galax-Sea is made up of green glitter in different shapes, and a smattering of gold glitter all in a clear base.  The glitter came out plentifully and spread evenly.  It also laid so flat that I only needed one coat of top coat!

Here is a macro shot of my manicure!  I say this is a perfect holiday manicure!
Sugar Sugar

Parting Thoughts: SinfulColors happens to be my favorite drugstore brand and I have dozens of their polishes!  I am not a huge fan of glitter, but this glitter actually surprised me!  I liked the look of it on my nail paired with the right color combination underneath.  I had no issues with the glitter, which is a feat in itself!

Price: $1.99 each exclusively at Walgreens for Holiday 2014

KBShimmer LE Nail Vinyl and Cuticle Oil Swatches and Review-Winter 2014

*PRESS SAMPLE*

~KBSHIMMER 2014 LE Nail Vinyl and Cuticle Oil Review~

I'm really excited to share with you what I have done with the new LE Nail Vinyl sheet from KBShimmer!  I spent a long time using as many of these as I could, so that I could give a thorough review.  Below is a look at all the designs on the sheet.
My favorite mani that I did was with the candy canes.  I did a water marble using Sinful Colors Snow Me White and Milani Modern Rouge.   I top coated with KBShimmer Top Coat and waited for it to dry.  Once dry, I used the candy cane nail vinyls on two fingers and then used KBShimmer Eclipse over the top. I peeled off the vinyls and top coated again.
Here's a closer look...  The one thing I haven't quite figured out yet is how to be able to put a vinyl on the center of my nail and still be able to peel it off after putting a coat of polish on.  Notice that I put these on making sure that some of the vinyl was off of my nail in order to take it off.
Here's a close up of the finished look!
My second manicure was using the mint candy pinwheel designs.  I did a gradient on my nail using Sinful Colors Snow Me White and 6 Harts Blow Me...A Raspberry.  I then used KBShimmer top coat and-once dried-I used the OUTER part of the design on my nail and did a reverse gradient.
Taking the inner slices out was rough; they didn't always want to come out, so I had to pick some out.  This design (along with the large snowflake design) was too large for my nails, so you can't see the outer edge really well.
While there was a learning curve for me on these, I still enjoyed the end result and would use them again.
Here is a macro shot.
My next manicure I tried using the long strips that are the outlines of candy canes and trees.  I really wasn't sure how to use these as I am not super creative on my own, so I did have a learning curve here.
I used Mod Lacquer Luminidust as the base with top coat, and once dried laid the nail vinyl on the lower half of my nail. I then put two coats of Mod lacquer Lightning Lime.  I gradiented the other two fingers.  While I like the way it looks, I think the next manicure looks even better!

I am sure that other talented bloggers will draw within the nail vinyls once dried, but I am not that talented, so I wondered how it would look on its own with just one color.  I decided to do very contrasting colors with this nail vinyl strip of Christmas trees and ornaments.
I used a base coat of Sinful Colors Snow Me White and then two coats of OPI Red Hot Rio after laying down the nail vinyl.  I think these look ions better when the polishes are polar opposites!
Macro shot!
I had a really great idea using these ornament strips, but it didn't turn out as well as what was in my head.  I'm just NOT an artist. :)  I used Milani High Speed Fast Dry polishes for the base on each finger.  I laid down the strips on each nail and then used A England Excalibur over the top.  I then used a black nail art brush to draw the strings for the ornaments. I think if I was able to draw in the lines separating the ornaments, the effect would have been better.

Cuticle Oil
I was sent Peppermint Cuticle Oil and Raspberry Vanilla Cuticle Oil to review as well.  (I had previously bought Pink Sugar to use.)

I love the pen!  It travels really well and has never leaked. It is convenient and easy to take with me.  I like the brush end of the pen and it does distribute the oil well.  My only issue (which isn't that big of a deal really) is that I never know how many clicks to do to get enough oil out of the pen. I either don't have enough or get too much.  If I do get too much, I just distribute it to the other nails, but I do wonder every time if I am clicking enough or too much.
The smell of each one I have is fantastic.  None are overly strong, but just enough scent to be pleasant.  The raspberry vanilla is my favorite and I love smelling my hands when I put it on.
Parting Thoughts:  I LOVE KBShimmer vinyls. I have several of her designs already.  I guess what threw me about this one was that it wasn't just one design and I needed to push my creativity a bit to make them work well.  The candy canes were hands down my favorite.  I also loved the mint pinwheels. I think I would prefer just those on a sheet.  I tried several times to use all three sizes of the cute snowflakes and also the lightbulbs, but they were so intricately cut that they kept tearing when I tried to take them off. :(   While a  couple of designs were too big for me, they are probably perfect for people with longer nails.  I say start with the more basic designs if you are a beginner, but if you want to branch out and do more artistic stuff, get this set.

KBShimmer Partial Winter 2014 Collection

*PRESS SAMPLE*

~KBSHIMMER (partial) WINTER 2014 COLLECTION~

My favorite time of the year is here-when polish brands start showing us their Holiday collections!!  Today, I have six of the eleven new ones to show you by KBShimmer and two of the five returning holiday favorites!
Let's start with a returning favorite that I wished I had gotten last year-Snow Way...
Snow Way- This snow inspired polish features a pale blue cruelly base with white glitters.  A micro sparkle glistens like fallen snow on a clear winter's day.  Three coats are recommended.
I used three coats, but could have gotten away with two, except that I noticed the blue was much brighter with three!  I also did an accent nail with White Here, White Now.  I had no issues at all.
I used one coat of top coat to smooth it all out.  I love the effect it has of snow falling on the nail!
New for 2014 is Let's Sleigh Together-A pale gray creally, this muted polish features hex glitters in green, navy and pale mint, circles, glitters in blueberry and micro holographic glitters for shine and sparkle. 2-3 coats recommended.
I LOVE GRAY.  I just do. I pretty much need all gray nail polish and this was no exception! I used 2-3 easy coats.

Deja Brew-Like a rich cup of java, or quality cognac, this brown polish has red undertones that set off the linear holographic rainbow.  2-3 coats recommended.
I used two smooth coats with no top coat.  The color reminds me of hot apple cider. Mmmmmm...
Here she is in the sun.

White Here, White Now (Texture)-  This snowy white polish is a blustery addition to our textured collection.  Two coats offer more coverage than any blizzard.
This one had to grow on me a bit.  I used two coats and I needed to wait for it to dry a bit before adding the second coat.  I had no issues with application, but would daresay that this polish would look infinitely better on me in nail art.  I was not fond of the color on my skin tone.  I have, however, seen several different bloggers using this as snow in nail art and it looked fantastic!

Kringle all the Way is another returning favorite.  The description reads, A glitter top with circle glitters in red, green, and silver.  1 coat recommended.
I don't know if this is weird or not, but aside from Let's Sleigh Together, this was my favorite!  WHY did I not buy this last year?!
I wore it over a coat of KBShimmer Eclipse (a must-have black for any polish lover.)  I only needed one coat and it went on smoothly.
Bam!  I want to wear this again and again!
I loved it so much, I thought I would matte it.  And YES.
I just loved the way it looked matted.
Turnip the Beet (Texture)- A rich sangria colored base accents holographic glitters in this magenta, purple and red making this a super sparkly textured polish. 2 coats recommended.
Turnip the Beet was indeed two easy coats.  I had no issues and it did not take long to dry.
The details are better seen in the macro!
Too Cold to Hold (Texture)- A rich sapphire blue base is filled with holographic silver, blue and green holographic glitters for a bejeweled textured look.  2 coats recommended.
Two easy coats was all it took for this gorgeous blue texture!

Fallen Angle- A vibrant royal blue jelly, this a-cute polish features holographic blue triangles, silver holo hexes, and blue hex glitters with micro sparkles.  3 coats recommended.
I used three coats to get the delicious blue you see here.  I love the triangles and love the holo glitters as well. The colors play nicely off of each other.

KBSHimmer also has this Limited Edition holiday nail vinyl sheet for sale. I will be showing examples of how you can use them on my Instagram and Facebook page as the holidays get closer.
KBShimmer has also expanded her cuticle oil line! Yay! I loved the first one she came out with and am so excited that she has not only added more, but in some of my favorite scents!  I will be reviewing Raspberry Vanilla and Peppermint on my Instagram and Facebook page soon.
Parting Thoughts:  This collection pushes the boundaries of what we know in the polish world by adding several texture polishes and some interesting nail vinyls.  The glitter polishes are right on par for what I am used to with KBShimmer's fantastic application and ease of use. She seems to have made something for everyone!
