OPI Neons 2014 Swatches and Review

~OPI NEON 2014 COLLECTION~

I am so excited because I happened upon the brand spanking new OPI Neon Collection today!
I have to say that some surprised me and a couple disappointed me.  What I loved though, is that they were all worth the money.  I did not use any white base coat in any pictures. These polishes are all on their own with no base coat.
There are six neons in the collection, and I was impressed by the versatility-some dry matte, a couple have shimmer, and a couple are jelly, while one is a straight cream.
opi neons 2014
Juice Bar Hopping is an in-your-face neon orange.  I believe it is a jelly.
I used two coats and had no issues at all.  It dries somewhat satiny and is very squishy!

You Are So Outta Lime! is a soft lime green cream.
I used 2-3 coats and it was a little streaky here and there.  It did level out though.  This was also the least neon of the bunch, but still a beautiful color.

Down To the Core-al is a pink leaning coral with a slight coral shimmer.
I got an unexpected surprise when I saw that this dried to a matte finish.  I needed to use three coats, because the matte showed streaks in it and it didn't self level.  You can see that if you zoom on the pictures.

When you put top coat on Down to the Core-al, the streaks and self leveling issues disappear!
The shimmer is much more pronounced and gives a nice pink sheen.

Life Gave Me Lemons is a yellow cream with a tiny amount of shimmer that gets lost on the nail.
I used 2-3 coats and had very minor streaking-maybe one nail out of four.  I love the lemony color of this! I noticed that it dries to a satiny finish.

Hotter Than You Pink is a bright neon pink with violet shimmer.
I used two coats and it dries to a matte finish.  There was minor streaking, but not as bad as Down to the Core-al.  I don't even think you can see it in the photos.  The violet shimmer is so intense and that is without top coat!

I had to top coat Hotter Than You Pink and WOW!  The shimmer intensified even more and made the minor streaks disappear.

Check out the shimmer!
Lastly, and my favorite of the bunch is Push and Pur-pull.  I need to first tell you that these pictures are NOT color accurate.  They are pulling more purple and darker than this polish was.  This is a jelly like formula that is a magenta or berry color.
I used three coats and this one was pretty streaky.  NO matter. I fell deeply in love with the color!

Parting Thoughts:  While I was a bit disappointed that there was a lot of streakiness and having to use three coats at times, this collection is very worth it!  With top coat, I think they are all winners.  My surprise favorite was Juice Bar Hopping, but really I loved them all!  Stay tuned for nail art on my Instagram account using these throughout the week.

~SUPERFICIALLY COLORFUL LACQUERS~
Superfically Colorful Lacquers has recently come out with another new collection!  This collection is called My Favorite Things and is "A collection inspired by bits and pieces of stories, jokes and funny moments with my besties!"   There are twelve polishes in this collection and they are all glitter jellies!

"Hot Italian Lady is a fiery red holographic glitter, golden stars and dots in hot red jelly base. Can be used in 2-3 coats on its own or layered over other nail polish."
Hot Italian Lady is two very easy coats and the base was more orange/red on me. I did have to fish for the stars, but all other glitters came out easily.
"Pickelfarts!!! is a deep berry pink holographic micro glitter in a berry jelly base.
Can be used in 2-3 coats on its own or layered over other nail polish. But do note that the base is colored."
I used two coats and the application was very easy.   I had no issues.
"Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey… Stuff -peridot green micro glitter and silver holographic hexes in an acidic green jelly base.
Can be used in 2-3 coats on its own or layered over other nail polish. Just remember that the base is colored."

Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey...Stuff was two very easy coats and I noticed it dried quite quickly.  I love the lime green!
"Erase your dirty thoughts! Twitter Licker is a name for those addicted lacquerheads like myself who drool over the gorgeous manicures people post!
Twitter Licker is a medium – light blue glitter with light holographic qualities in very light blue, almost clear base. In this one I hope the glitter will bleed a little and enrich it’s jelly base.
Can be used in 2-3 coats on its own or layered over other nail polish."

Twitter Licker was three coats.  The base wasn't quite as opaque as the others and I had visible nail line. It might be better as a top coat.  I do love the fantastic glitter color!
"Yous Dearhearts is a holographic gold micro glitter and sparse golden hearts in an amber jelly base.
Can be used in 2-3 coats on its own or layered over other nail polish. Just remember that the base is colored."

Yous Dearhearts was two coats and applied well.  I had some visible nail line, so you might need three.
"Make Up Me Beautiful is a neon fuchsia micro glitter in a bright pink jelly.
Can be used in 2-3 coats on its own or layered over other nail polish.  Just remember that the jelly base is colored."

Makeup Me Beautiful was two very smooth coats that dried quickly.
"British Chocs is an orange holographic glitter in juicy orange jelly base.
It can be used in 2-3 coats on its own or layered over other nail polish. Just remember that the base is colored."

British Chocs was also two very smooth coats that dried quickly.
"On Hilly Grounds is a chocolate brown holographic glitter and fun golden dots in red-brown jelly base.
It can be used in 2-3 coats on its own or layered over other nail polish. Just remember that the base is colored."
On Hilly Grounds was 2-3 coats.  It had very smooth application and dried quickly. I love the different pops of color in the glitters.
"The Search Tempest is an Emerald green and holographic glitter in medium green and holographic glitter in medium green jelly base.
Can be used in 2-3 coats on its own or layered over other nail polish.  Just remember that the base is colored."
The Search Tempest was 2-3 coats and had great application as well.
"I’ve Never Been Ginger! is a tardis blue and holographic glitter in a dark blue jelly base.
Can be used in 2-3 coats on its own or layered over other nail polish. Just remember that the base is colored."
I've Never Been Ginger! was three thin coats.  Application was easy.
"All The Purple In The World is a purple holographic micro glitter in purple jelly base.
Can be used in 2-3 coats on its own or layered over other nail polish. Just remember that the base is colored."
How could I not like a polish named "All the Purple in the World?!"  I used two easy coats that dried quickly.
"Imaginary Narwhals is a silvery holographic micro glitter polish with occasional silver stars in clear base.
Can be used in 2-3 coats on its own or layered over any other nail polish."
Imaginary Narwhals should probably be used over a base coat.  I used it on  its own and used three coats.  There were some stars, but I did need to fish for them. I imagine this would be amazing over black!
Parting Thoughts: If you love glitter bombs and micro glitter, then these are for you!

Red Dog Designs (partial) Butterfly Collection Swatch and Review

*PRESS SAMPLE*

~RED DOG DESIGNS (partial) BUTTERFLY GARDEN COLLECTION~

Good morning!  I am so excited that it is Saturday!  I plan on working outside in my garden all weekend!  Speaking of the gardens, Red Dog Designs just released a new spring collection based on the flowers and butterflies called the Butterfly Garden Collection!  It consists of three glitters and five creams.  Okay, they're not quite creams...the unique thing about these is they are all different finishes-a holo, a flakie, a suede, a texture, and an iridescent!  I have four of the creams to show you today!  I will link some posts at the ends so you can see the others as well.
I don't want to repeat myself throughout the post, so I will just say now that application was incredibly consistent.  All four of the polishes I swatched were two easy coats and I had no issues with any of them. They applied really well!  It had been awhile since I bought from Red Dog Designs. I forgot how great her polishes are!

Pentas is a pale pink linear holo creme with a pink shimmer.

I love the softness of the rose color.  Unlike many holos, that don't look their best in the shade or indoors, this one takes on a fantastic look without the sun!

Zinnia is a pale green creme with blue micro flakies and green/gold shifting micro flakies and a green shimmer.
I gasped when I put the first coat of Zinnia on.  I love green and blue together and the blue in this just pops!
You can really see the flakies and shimmer in the macro.
Coreopsis is a pale yellow suede finish with gold and silver sparkles and a gold shimmer.
I love the suede aspect of this polish!  While I only used two coats, you might prefer three as I now see VNL in my pictures.

Aster is a pale blue creme with blue/ green iridescent glitters, micro holo glitter and a turquoise shimmer.
I love the shine on the finish of Aster!  This is without top coat and it kind of reminds me of a jelly!

Parting Thoughts: Application was great with all four of these polishes!  I love Red Dog Designs creativity in creating a different finish for each of these!  My favorite was Zinnia for the amazing iridescence!  I also love the suede look of Coreopsis.

You really need to go check out the others in the Garden Collection!  While Red Dog Designs does great polish, her specialty is glitters!  They are amazing!  Go check out the others at:
